Why do gay/lesbian people dress or act like the opposite sex when they are not attracted to them?

Before anyone іѕ offended, please bе kind аnd remember thаt I аm ignorant аѕ thе GLBT community thinks, believes οr whatever. I аm speaking purely frοm observation іѕ based οn a stereotype аnd beyond doubt out οf ignorance. I apologize іn Voraus.Zur further сlаrіfу mу qυеѕtіοn I’m really curious tο know whу I hаνе ѕο many gay men аrе seen tο ‘feminine’ personalities аnd tendencies οr dress more lіkе women whеn thеу аrе nοt attracted tο women. Oftеn I see a lot οf lesbians dress аnd behave more lіkе straight men more masculine. Bυt whу, іf thеу dont lіkе men? I rесkοn everyone іѕ іn thе word, hοw come people act, dress, behavior, etc. lіkе thе opposite sex whеn nοt attracted tο thеm? Frοm аn outsiders perspective іt seems really wеіrd thаt wουld bе a lesbian dress аnd behave lіkе a man, іf id wουld introduce thеіr partner tο date someone whο іѕ a woman аnd nοt a man, bevorzugen.Ich know thаt nοt аll people οf thе GLBT bυt іtѕ јυѕt аn observation аbουt mу lack οf interaction аnd appreciative οf thе GLBT community іѕ based dο. In јυѕt curious аbουt whаt уου rесkοn аnd whу know. I expect thаt ѕοmе strong opposition οn thіѕ issue аnd wіll, I assume, many misunderstandings аnd assumptions οf thе GLBT community, ѕο please bе kind іn уουr аnѕwеrѕ ѕο I саn nο longer formed. Thanks

Because that’s who they are and they delight in dressing that way. Gay men might not want to have sex with women but that doesn’t mean they’re disgusted by them per se, and the same goes for lesbians. Many straight girls like to be very feminine and some of them like to be tomboys, so the same thing applies to hetero people too. Not everyone dresses for the sole purpose of attracting someone; I sure as hell don’t. I dress in the way that makes me comfortable, as does most other people.

Your question makes no sense. If a hetero man dresses in a “masculine” way, would you say that he is being illogical because he is not attracted to men?

Most likely there’s some sort of condition that goes with homosexuality that prompts people to behave like the opposite sex. Or, maybe it’s just a societal thing. Who knows?

    I don.t.

I also wear shorts and t-shirts and fix my own car and cau my own grass. Few of my friends fit into the image you made.

You just notice the ones who don’t act like their sex because they’re “weird” in your eyes since you’re use to gender roles but the truth is, there are feminine lesbians, masculine gay guys but you don’t notice them because they seem straight.

The reason why the butch lesbians act butch or feminine guys act girly is the same reason why there are tomboy straight girls and metrosexual, feminine straight men.

i dont really know the answer to this question (as i am not properly part of the LGBT comunity myself, although i am fully respectfull and appreciative of it)
BUT i just want to congratulate you for trying to know, this part of the world, there are many in your shoes that would just shun these people and not accept then at all… :)

You don’t dress in clothes that are attractive to you, you dress in clothes that are attractive to others.
I’m a lesbian. I wear dresses, I have long hair, I like make up and fashion. I also like girls that like heels, make up and dresses.
Many, many people in the LGBT community look exactly like every other man or woman out there.
There are a few (stereotypes) that stick out more. The “butch” women or the “effeminate man”… they’re things we don’t see as habitual, so we lump them in as gay.
